Toro & Friends began with one puppy and a difficult realisation.

When Holly found Toro on the side of the road, she discovered just how many dogs end up unwanted or abandoned, often because people weren’t fully prepared for what dog ownership actually involves.

Toro & Friends was created to help change that - by making education, honesty, and responsibility the starting point.

Our Mission

Toro & Friends exists to educate people about the real responsibility of owning a dog, helping them make thoughtful decisions so more dogs find loving, lifelong homes.

This isn’t about convincing everyone to adopt.

It’s about helping people choose dogs with intention, choosing to wait, or opting to help in other ways.

Our vision

A world where:

  • Every dog is chosen thoughtfully,
  • Adoption is the natural first option,
  • Responsible ownership is the norm,
  • And fewer dogs are surrendered because people were prepared from the start.

Our approach

We believe dog ownership should be talked about honestly.

That means:

  • Acknowledging the joy and the exhaustion
  • Normalising overwhelm and puppy blues
  • Talking about cost, time, training, and long-term commitment
  • Supporting people without judgement, shame, or pressure

We don’t believe in perfect owners.
